The beginning of Fendix
'Dulk' was the fifth employee to come on board with us as an Information Security Consultant, back in the days when the B.V. was still called KAM Certifications. He experienced the real start-up phase up close. At that time, we were still working from a small administration office at a partner's house until the team got the keys to the current building. 'Dulk' was there from the very first moment: from assembling the very first desks to seeing the first cars drive by with the KAM logo on them.
In the early days of Fendix, when the team consisted of only five people, the workday often looked slightly different than it does now. At the end of the day, and especially on Fridays, time was routinely made to relax together. Only we didn't have a ping pong table or Xbox back then. And so there was creative improvisation with what was there.
So hilarious games ensued in which balls had to be thrown into trash cans, fanatical rounds of beer pong with the cups Wouter had brought along, and golf trick shots performed with the most "goofy" materials. To everyone's surprise, Kilian and Mathijs turned out to be remarkably good at it.
Advancing to Senior Privacy Consultant
Dulk surfaced his interest in privacy issues and that's how he progressed over time to Senior Privacy Consultant. You may be wondering what a privacy consultant actually does. For us, it's all about helping organizations to regulate privacy not only on paper, but more importantly in practice. He is also regularly deployed as an external FG(Data Protection Officer) or Privacy Officer.
Ruben supports municipalities, healthcare institutions and schools in making clear choices around data protection. We are not fans of thick reports that end up in a drawer, but of solutions that work in the daily reality of organizations. Dulk can do that like no other. His specialty is applying the AVG in complex organizations. He knows exactly how to convert policy into workable processes.
The growth of Fendix
'Dulk' is impressed with how big we are now. The difference today is that there are more resources, but the core remains the same: having fun, being flexible and working together as a team.
