The reason
Complex ISO 27001 requirements
When NowOnline was confronted with the complex requirements of the ISO 27001 standard and lacked their own internal expertise, they knew they needed an experienced Security Officer. Kilian, deployed by Fendix, offered exactly what was needed. “We needed someone who not only understands the standard, but can also integrate it into our daily processes,” says Angelo Derksen, developer at NowOnline. Fendix as the 'Missing Link'
With the offer of “Specialism as a Service”, Fendix came into the picture at NowOnline after offering their ISO 27001-had obtained certification. “Kilian had already helped us implement ISO 27001, and he has the expertise and time that we didn't have internally,” says Angelo. The collaboration started with a clear setup of the Information Security Management System (ISMS). The system was set up with the tools that NowOnline was already using.

Kilian's impact at NowOnline
Kilian is more than just a hired consultant; he has become a colleague. “His approach to being available even outside standard office hours and actively thinking from our informal business climate makes him highly appreciated,” Angelo shares. Under his leadership, NowOnline has laid a firm basis for their security policy. From customer satisfaction surveys to keeping track of the ISMS - Kilian has helped translate ISO 27001 requirements into concrete actions.
“Every month, together, we look at where improvements are needed. Recently, we tightened our continuity plan after a year of testing,” Angelo illustrates. The recent addition of sustainability standards to ISO 27001 was also something where Kilian's expertise was indispensable. “He informed us and immediately helped us integrate this, such as with the solar panels on our new building,” Angelo adds.
